Surat Gears Up for Billiards and Snooker Tournament

SuratThe city of diamonds and textiles, Surat is all set to host the prestigious Gujarat State Open Ranking Billiards and Snooker Tournament 2024 starting from August 15. 

About 150 players will participate in the tournament organised under the auspices of Surat District Billiards and Snooker Association and Gujarat State Billiards Association at Surat City Gymkhana, behind ISKCON Mall, Piplod.

Surat City GymKhana President Arvind Inamdar and Secretary Kishan Mehra, Tournament Coordinator and SDBSA President Yogesh Thakkar, SDBSA Secretary Sarin Chevli, SDBSA Treasurer Neel Desai, SDBSA Joint Secretary Vishul Desai, SDBSA Liaison Himanshu Patel were present during the announcement of the tournament on Monday. 

SDBSA coach Tushar Sahay, SDBSA Marker Jayesh Umrigar informed that more than 150 players from South Gujarat including competitors from Navsari, Bardoli, Vyara, Vapi, Daman, Valsad, Vansda, Ankleshwar, Bharuch, Kosamba, Olpad, Chikhli and Dharampur will participate in the tournament. 

This is the third time the league is being held in Surat, and it promises to be an exciting event for Q sports fans. 

Speaking about the tournament, SDBSA President and Tournament Coordinator Viraj Thakkar expressed his pride in bringing the event back to Surat. He emphasised the importance of the tournament to promote Q Sports in the region and encourage local talent to shine on the state-level platform. 

The tournament will also mark the launch of a new book titled *The World of Q Sports: From History to Mastery’ by Viraj Thakkar. . This book is a comprehensive guide that explores the history, forms, techniques and legendary players of cue sports. Viraj Thakkar shares his passion for the sport and his desire to pass on this rich legacy to future generations, inviting readers and enthusiasts to join in celebrating the glory of Q Sports.
