Surat : The Surat cyber crime department have arrested two accused for cheating gullible customers in the name of investment in the stock market. The accused committed a cyber fraud with the victim based in Surat and siphoned off Rs 14 lakh in the name of stock market investment.
The accused have been identified as Raj Vaishnav and Kamlesh Jat and that they have criminal history outside Gujarat as well.
Sources informed that a cyber fraud of Rs 14 lakh was committed in the name of investing in the share market in the city. In which the victim filed a complaint with the cybercrime police. Following thorough investigation, the accused were nabbed by the cyber crime sleuths on Friday.
Earlier, a doctor based in Bhavnagar was cheated by the fraudsters in the name of investing in the stock market. The child specialist decided to invest in the stock market after going through an attractive advertisement given by the accused on the social media platforms. The doctor lost Rs 50 lakh to the cyber thugs.
The doctor in Bhavnagar had deposited Rs. 50 lakhs in the account. The plot was exposed when the accused demanded more money on the pretext of taxes and other charges.
Police said that the cyber thugs have taken to the social media platform to entice gullible investors. They (cyber thugs) are posting attractive investment advertisements to trap innocent investors in the name of high profits in the stock market.
The accused are in the police custody and investigations are going on.
