Surat : While the world’s largest diamond cutting and polishing centre in Surat is facing one of the worst recession in its five decades long history, the Surat Hira Bourse (SHB), operated by the Diamond and Gem Development Corporation Limited (DGDC) has taken proactive measure by drastically reducing its service charges by more than half.
The Surat diamond industry, especially the importers and exporters of diamonds and jewellery, have appreciated the steps taken by the management of SHB.
KK Sharma, CEO of SHB informed that Surat Hira Bourse will be always in the forefront to help the diamond industry whenever need arises. Surat Hira Bourse (SHB) is conveniently located in the diamond area of Surat and is in service for more than three decades. Even during Covid pandemic, the SHB took a great risk and opened its doors for the import and exports so that traders would not suffer.
Industry sources said that the decision to reduce service charges by almost 50% will go a long way in helping the trading community to tide over the ongoing recession in the diamond industry. The decision is likely to shift the focus of the diamond exporters and importers to the SHB.
