In order to ensure hassle-free, comfortable travel & better services to all bonafide passengers and to deter ticketless travelling, special ticket checking drives are carried out at frequent intervals over Western Railway, in addition to the regular intensive ticket checking drives, especially in the Mumbai suburban section. In this direction, a two-day special ticket checking drive was conducted in AC local trains on 23rd and 24th August, 2024.
According to the press release issued by Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, the ticket checking staff of Western Railway in collaboration with RPF staff carried out a two-day Special Ticket Checking Drive in AC local train services. During the check on both the days, total 1273 passengers were found traveling in unauthorized manner. More than Rs. 4 lakhs were recovered as fines, where 595 passengers on the first day & 678 passengers on the second day were penalised. The special drive was carried during morning and evening peak hours where people think they can get away without a valid ticket among the crowd.
Western Railway appeals all esteemed commuters to travel with a proper and valid ticket, which can be procured through the ticket booking counters or ATVM machines or can be purchased online through UTS App.
