Central University of Gujarat inaugurates new centre for Nomadic students

GandhinagarThe Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence (DACE) for Scheduled Castes and Other Backward Classes students has been operational at the Central University of Gujarat. Recently, the university received a new centre for De-Notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic community students from the Development and Welfare Board under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. 

Bharatbhai Patni, a member of the Development and Welfare Board for De-Notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic communities, stated that efforts are being made to integrate students from these communities into the mainstream through the Centre of Excellence. This initiative to connect the community with higher education is commendable.

During the inauguration ceremony, he interacted with students enrolled in the centre. Patni remarked that the efforts of the centre, along with the Central University of Gujarat, will be a boon for the students.

Mittal Patel, former member of the Development and Welfare Board for De-Notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic communities and founder of the Vicharta Samuday Samarthan Manch, said that it was not easy to envision such a plan for the community, but today it feels like a dream coming true at the Central University of Gujarat.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rama Shanker Dubey expressed pride in the unique identity that the center has established across the nation in a short period. He noted that the Union Minister of Education, Dharmendra Pradhan, has also praised the excellent results of our center. In the future, students from the De-Notified, Nomadic, and Semi-Nomadic communities are expected to be selected in large numbers for government services.

Prof. Rajesh Makwana, mentioned that a separate centre will also be established for students from the differently abled community in the future. He added that the Central University of Gujarat is the only university in the country where three centres for these communities operate simultaneously.
