The Universität Hamburg provides a merit scholarship program aimed at assisting outstanding doctorate researchers and overseas students across all disciplines. Financial assistance is provided by this award, allowing participants to concentrate entirely on their education and advance their academic and professional careers. Furthermore, those who have exhibited social engagement and active participation in international contexts are given preference during the selection process.

In order to apply for the next round, candidates must schedule an appointment by Friday, October 11, 2024, at 11 a.m., to show their identity card or residency permit. The deadline is October 15, 2024. After this point, requests won’t be taken into account, resulting in an incomplete application.
Scholarship benefits:
Monthly Stipend: Up to €930 is offered by the scholarship each month.
Duration of Funding: Scholarships are given out for a total of 12 months, or two semesters. Reapplications are accepted, and funding can be granted for a maximum of two years.
Eligibility criteria:
Candidates must be actively pursuing a degree and have attended Universität Hamburg for at least two semesters (Master’s students and doctoral researchers may apply after one semester is finished).
Applicants cannot be citizens of Germany.
This award is not available to international students who qualify for federal student loans under the German Federal Training Assistance Act (BAföG).

For Bachelor’s students: Submit a STiNE printout of the “Leistungskonto” or a current transcript of records.
For Master’s students and doctoral researchers: Submit your most recent degree certificate with grades (in English or German).
Two evaluations from full-time teaching staff with doctorates at Universität Hamburg, using the official evaluation template.
Document Verification:
Non-EU nationals: A valid residency permit is required.
EU citizens are required to show their identity card and their “Meldebescheinigung,” or registration certificate of residency.
