Mumbai: An 18-year-old girl was raped in mahim area, 25-year-old accused has been arrested by Nirmal Nagar Police station. The accused is originally from West Bengal. The name of the accused is Firoz Khan.
The victim girl initially misled the police by providing false information about gangrape. After police has arrested accused, real incident came into light.
Nirmal Nagar Police said, On 6 October 18-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by the accused after being taken to Mahim area aroud 12 AM and then accused brought girl back to Bandra railway station in mid night. After that, the victim girl was sitting at the Bandra railway station till next day. Commuters gathered at the railway station helped her and brought her to Nirmal Nagar Police Station.
Then a case was registered at Nirmal Nagar police station on the 7th October between 4 PM and on the same day, Firoz Khan (25) named the accused was arrested from the Golibar area, police Sources informed.
The Firoz Khan belongs to West Bengal and works as a laborer in the Golibar area. The victim is a native of Uttar Pradesh and is staying with her uncle at Mira Road. Uncle would come to pick her up at the railway station on October 6 at 1 AM in the night. But she was crying because her uncle did not come.
Taking advantage of that, the accused took her outside the railway station towards Mahim on the pretext of helping her and raped her. While investigating the case, the police examined the CCTV footage of the Kalanagar area and the accused and the victim were seen going towards Mahim, a police source said.
According to the Nirmal Nagar police, the victim’s statement will be recorded before the court as she is frequently changing her statement. Earlier, the victim had stated that she was gangraped. But later, when the CCTV footage of Kalanagar area was checked based on her statement, the police realized the true situation and the accused was handcuffed.
