Indian Railways Clinches Gold at 18th USIC World Railway Volleyball Championship

Indian Railways Volleyball team has emerged as the champion of the 18th USIC (World Railway) Volleyball Championship held in Schwerin, Germany, from 21st to 26th October 2024. In a thrilling finale, the Indian team defeated host nation Germany in straight sets (3-0), showcasing their dominance and securing the coveted gold medal.

Led by team captain Mr. Ashwal Rai from South Western Railways, the Indian team displayed remarkable skill, resilience, and teamwork throughout the tournament. Mr. Sudheer Shetty from SWR also played a crucial role in India’s journey to the top, with both players delivering exceptional performances that were instrumental in the team’s success.

Indian Railways team reached the finals after convincingly defeating Luxembourg, Czech Republic, and Switzerland, all in straight sets. This clean sweep in the earlier rounds highlighted their prowess and determination to bring home the gold. In the final match, the Indian team maintained their composure and skill, winning three consecutive sets to secure victory over Germany on their home ground.

The win marks a historic achievement for Indian Railways in international volleyball, underscoring the team’s dedication and the support they receive from the Indian Railways administration.
