Study In Australia: University Of Tasmania Opens Admissions For Master Of Marine And Antarctic Science

The University of Tasmania (UTAS) has begun taking applications for the Master of Marine and Antarctic Science programme for 2025.

Marine science, Antarctica, and the Southern Ocean are all included in this master’s degree. This programme includes study trip sections that introduce students to the Southern Ocean and the biggest seafood, aquaculture, and fisheries sectors in Australia.

Students will have access to internationally renowned Tasmanian institutions of marine research and ocean governance, as well as worldwide partner organisations. Additionally, it covers the development of employable skills, an individual project in the professional stream, and a one-year research project in the research stream.

About the program

This two-year postgraduate programme is offered full-time in English. First-year students must complete eight coursework programmes, which include four core units and four speciality units (such as Fisheries Management, Governance and Policy, Marine Biology, and Sustainable Aquaculture). Second-year students may decide between research and a professional track.

Eligibility criteria: 

The University of Tasmania offers a Bachelor of Marine and Antarctic Science, Graduate Diploma in Marine and Antarctic Science, or an equivalent degree. A Bachelor of Science degree with a major in the biological sciences (biology, environmental science, zoology, plant science, marine biology, ecology, etc.) is an example of a comparable degree.

IELTS (Academic) result with no individual band below 6.0 and a minimum total score of 6.0, OR

72 on the TOEFL (iBT) (no single skill must be less than 16 on reading, 16 on listening, 18 on speaking, and 22 on writing) OR

Overall PTE Academic score of 50, with no score below 50

Students should apply for their COE two to three months before the commencement of the course.
