Study In UK: University Of Cambridge Launches Fully-Funded PhD Programmes For International Students

The University of Cambridge and Trinity College have announced £48 million in fully funded PhD programmes.

In response to declining funding sources for PhD research in the humanities and sciences, the Trinity Cambridge Research Studentships (TCRS) were established. Depending on the proportion of domestic and foreign students, the program will provide up to 300 fully funded PhD studentships.

Professor Bhaskar Vira, a pro-vice-chancellor for education at Cambridge, stated, “The UK must help the next generation of PhD students if it hopes to maintain its position as a global leader in research. Although we acknowledge the concerning strains on finances, we are thankful for the support given to postgraduate research students through the UK government’s investments in science and research.

The new program will start supporting students in October 2025; applicants who want to enrol in a PhD programme in 2025–2026 will be given consideration.
