In a shocking incident reported from the Raidurgam area in Hyderabad, a 25-year-old woman was found dead at a residential apartment. She was dentified as Ashvita Singh, who originally hailed from Odisha and was chosen for surrogacy by a 54-year-old businessman.
Police action follows after woman falls off Hyderabad building
However, on Tuesday night, Singh lost her life mysteriously falling from the 9th floor of My Home Bhooja Apartments in the city. Police is now investigating the incident. It is so far unclear whether the surrogate died by suicide or foul play.
When the police reached the spot, they came across a setting suggesting suicide. They reportedly found two sarees and a dupatta tied to the balcony railing. However, the police didn’t rule out the possibility of her attempt to escape the flat with the help of these clothes.
“Sexually harassed”
On this note, they suspected Singh to have accidentally slipped during her attempt to flee when he was allegedly being sexually harassed by the businessman.

Surrogate stayed in bizman’s flat
It was noted that it had been a month since Singh was staying in one of the rooms inside the businessman’s flat.
The deceased woman’s husband told the media that Rajesh Babu, the businessman who hired her for surrogacy harassed her sexually. Singh’s husband accused Rajesh of sexually harassing his wife, claiming it to the reason she could have ended her life by committing suicide.
Police filed a case of abetment to suicide against Rajesh Babu, followed by launching a probe into the matter.
Singh was not yet pregnant
According to reports, the childless couple, Rajesh and his wife had hired Singh as a surrogate mother for their baby by offering her Rs. 10 lakh. Singh was not pregnant at the time of her death as the surrogacy procedure was not yet administered on her.
