MGM University has organized its 3rd Convocation ceremony on November 30, 2024, in the presence of a senior parliamentarian and eminent lawyer of the country, Kapil Sibal as the Chief Guest, who will deliver the convocation address. A press conference regarding the event was held on Wednesday at the University, where the Vice-Chancellor Dr. Vilas Sapkal said that 1284 students would be awarded degrees during the ceremony. He also shared that the senior social activist Medha Patkar will be conferred upon the D.Litt. degree of MGM University. The Chairman of MGM Kamal Kishor Kadam, MGM University Chancellor Ankushrao Kadam and members of the Governing Body and Management Board will be present on the occasion.
Dr.Sapkal highlighted that MGM University, the first self-financed State University in Marathwada, has received approval from the Government of Maharashtra under Maharashtra Act No. XXVI, 2019, and holds 2(f) status from the UGC, India. Regarding the University’s academic programs, Dr.Sapkal mentioned that MGM University offers over 340UG, PG, Diploma, PG Diploma, Certificate, and Ph.D. Programs across seven faculties, including Engineering and Technology, Management and Commerce, Basic and Applied Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, Performing Arts, Design and Interdisciplinary Studies. The programs range from Engineering, Management, Biotechnology, Computer Science, Information Technology and Hotel Management to Fashion, Fine Arts, Classical Dance, Journalism, Filmmaking, Photography, Psychology, Economics, Social Work, Library Science, Indian and Foreign Languages, Fire Engineering, Physical Education, Law, Forensic Science, Pharmacy, Yoga Science.
The convocation ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the Rukmini Auditorium of the University. Students who have successfully completed their programs in the academic year of 2023-24 will be awarded their respective degrees. These include 762 Bachelors, 399 Masters, 83 Diploma, 27PG Diploma and04 Certificate program students. Out of these, 306 students will be from Engineering and Technology, 319 from Management and Commerce,392 from Basic and Applied Sciences, 156 from Social Sciences and Humanities, 10 from Performing Arts, 70 from Design and 31 from the Faculty of Interdisciplinary Studies, informed Dr.Sapkal. He also underlined that 03 students would also be awarded Ph.D. for the first time by the University in this Convocation.
10 Students to be honoured with Chancellor’s Gold Medals
A total of 10 students including 4 graduate and 6 postgraduate students will be honoured with the Chancellor’s Gold Medal on the occasion for their excellent academic performance. In addition, a topper student from Civil Engineering will be honoured with a gold medal in memory of the former Principal PratapraoBorade from this year.
