Chhattisgarh: CM Vishnu Deo Sai Announces 15,000 Homes For Surrendered Naxalites And Affected Families Under PMAY

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government has announced to play a pivotal role in an initiative aimed at the rehabilitation of surrendered Naxalites and families affected by Naxal violence. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Central Government has approved the construction of 15,000 houses as part of the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Chief Minister Sai emphasized the significance of this initiative as a key step toward integrating surrendered Naxalites and affected families into the mainstream. “These 15,000 homes are not merely physical structures, but a symbol of dignity and security for those who have endured extreme hardships. The scheme will be implemented with complete transparency and urgency,” he stated.

He further described the initiative as a revolutionary step, reaffirming the government’s commitment to improving the lives of those in Naxal-affected regions while fostering social harmony and development.

Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma elaborated that the project will primarily focus on families who were excluded from previous databases such as the Socio-Economic Caste Census 2011 and Awas Plus 2018. The Central Government has granted approval for the inclusion of their names in the Awas Plus portal, with a deadline set for December 6, 2024.

Sharma, who had discussions with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, highlighted that these efforts were instrumental in securing the green light for the construction of the 15,000 houses. “This milestone reflects the government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring a dignified life for surrendered Naxalites and victim families,” he added.

The Deputy Chief Minister also outlined the procedural roadmap for the scheme. District Superintendents of Police will compile lists of eligible surrendered Naxalites and affected families, which will then be verified by the District Panchayat.

Following verification, land allocation for housing will be managed by the district collectors. The construction will follow the guidelines of PMAY, ensuring an efficient and timely delivery of homes to the beneficiaries.
