Mumbai: 30-year-Old Labourer Killed After Dumper Mows Him Down In Kandivali; Driver Arrested

A 30-year-old man was killed in an accident in Kandivali (East) on Friday November 29.

Ishad Chowdhary, a labourer, was crossing the road when a dumper truck ran him over. The driver, identified as 40-year-old Syamjeet Yadav, a resident of Ghodbunder, Thane, fled the scene but was later arrested by the Samta Nagar police.

According to the FIR, Chowdhary hailed from Uttar Pradesh and had come to Mumbai alone in search of work. He was employed at a construction site operated by Radheshyam Building Developers in Kandivali (East). However, he lost his job three days before the accident as he failed to provide an Aadhaar card and contact details to the employer.

The incident occurred around 8.30pm on Wadarpada Road No 1. Chowdhary was crossing the road when the dumper truck struck him from behind. The rear wheel of the truck ran over his body and head, causing severe injuries. Passersby rushed Chowdhary to Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali (West), but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

The driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. However, the police soon arrested him soon.

Deepak Yadav, 20, a contractor, filed a complaint with police. The Samta Nagar police registered a case against the driver under Section 106(1) (causing death by negligence) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act, on November 30.
