Exam pattern
The exam comprises two papers. Paper I is a computer-based objective test divided into two parts: General Hindi and General English, with 100 questions each, totaling 200 marks. The duration is 2 hours, and there is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. Paper II is a descriptive test conducted offline, carrying 200 marks and lasting 2 hours. It includes translation of two passages (one from Hindi to English and the other from English to Hindi) and essay writing in both languages on general or official topics.
The final selection is based on the combined marks of Paper I and Paper II, with candidates required to meet qualifying criteria for both.
