Thane: Teacher Booked For Allegedly Beating Second-Grade Student For Poor English Reading At Ambernath School

The Ambernath Police have booked a class teacher for allegedly beating a second-grade student after he was unable to read an English word properly. The police said the incident took place at a private English school in Ambernath, where a seven-year-old boy was studying in the second grade, on November 28.

The complaint was filed by the student’s mother at the Ambernath Police Station, as per the FIR. The student could not read a single English word properly. Subsequently, the class teacher allegedly hit him with a wooden stick on his left side and back, causing injuries to his leg and back.

According to the FIR, the complainant stated that when she returned home from her workplace, she found her son suffering from a fever. The boy narrated the entire incident that had occurred at school to his mother. The mother allegedly called the teacher regarding the beating, but the teacher did not respond. Following this, the mother approached the police station and filed a case against the teacher.

A case has been registered against the teacher under Section 118(1) (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Police Inspector Kishor Shinde from the Ambernath Police Station said, “We have booked a case against her. No arrests have been made yet. We are carrying out further investigations.”
