A fan was heard chanting ‘Mumbai cha Raja, Rohit Sharma’ on day two of the pink-ball warm-up match against the Prime Minister’s XI at the Manuka Oval in Canberra. In a video surfaced on social media, the fan chanted ‘Mumbai cha Raja, Rohit Sharma’ when the Indian captain was making his way into the field.
Over the last 18 months or so, several venues in India during the IPL and international matches, fans were heard continuously chanting ‘Mumbai cha Raja, Rohit Sharma’. The chants intensified during IPL 2024, especially due to the 37-year-old’s removal as the Mumbai Indians captain in favour of all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
