Aster DM Healthcare Shares Zooms Almost 5% On NSE After Announcing Merger With Blackstone Backed Quality Care India

Aster DM Healthcare shares surged sharply to 52 week high level of Rs 0.00 per share on the NSE (National Stock Exchange), after the company announced a merger with blackstone backed Quality Care India through a share swap deal making the merged entity; third largest hopital chain.

The shares of Aster DM touched a day high level of Rs 523.20 per share on the NSE (National Stock Exchange), after hitting the opening bell at Rs 507.50 per share on Indian bourses.

Aster DM Healthcare shares were trading around Rs 517.50 per share on the indian bourses surging about 3.51 per cent amounting to Rs 17.55 per share on the NSE (National Stock Exchange).

Merger details

The merger announced between Aster DM health care and Quality Care India will be subject to seek approval from Regulator, corporations, and shareholders. Merger entity will have 38 hospitals and more than 10,150 beds spread across 27 cities in South and Central India.

The hospital chain’s September quarter net profit of Rs 96.84 crore represented a substantial improvement over the same period last fiscal year, when it reported a net loss of Rs 30.79 crore.

Additionally, revenue increased by 16 per cent year over year to Rs 1,086 crore in Q2 FY25 from Rs 934 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous fiscal year.

The earnings before interest, tax, depreciation, and amortization (EBITDA) margin increased to 21.4 per cent in Q2 FY25 from 16.8 per cent in the same period last year, indicating an improvement in operational performance.

The hospital chain stated that by FY27, it intends to add more than 1,800 new beds, including the 300-bed new Aster Women and Child facility in Hyderabad.

Even though scheme business declined in the first half of FY25, the company’s payor mix improved, with the insurance business accounting for 30 per cent of the total. In the first half of FY25 (H1 FY25), the flagship Aster Whitefield hospital in Bangalore accomplished nearly 67 per cent occupancy rates, with an average revenue per occupied bed (ARPOB) of Rs 70,000.
