Bengaluru Prepares For Heavy Rainfall Due To Cyclone Fengal; IMD Issues Orange Alert

Bengaluru: The city is experiencing a change in its weather, offering chilly temperatures to the residents due to the impact of Cyclone Fengal. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert as this weather pattern is set to persist for the week across numerous parts of the state.

The city woke up at 06:25 am and the sun is expected to set at 5:51. The minimum and maximum temperatures are expected to range between 20 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius. The humidity level is expected to range around 91 per cent. The wind is expected to blow steadily from the Northeast at a speed of 14 km/h, and the Air Quality Index (AQI) is expected to stand at 2.0, which indicates good air quality in the city and its surrounding areas.

The IMD has forecasted overcast skies, which are likely to remain the same throughout the day. The IMD has issued an orange alert in the city, but it has issued a yellow alert in the numerous regions of Karnataka, including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Hasan, Mysuru, Kodagu, Shivamogga, and Chamarajanagar, for December 2 and 3.

Taking the IMD as a source, the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC) shared the weather report on X and stated, “Scattered moderate rain with thundershowers in southern interior districts of the state, heavy rain is expected today.”

Weather forecast for upcoming days

The IMD issued an orange alert in the South Interior Karnataka for December 3, 2024, as heavy to very heavy rainfall is predicted in the region, with thunderstorms, lightning, and squalls. Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued in coastal areas and the North Interior Karnataka for December 3 and 4. According to the weather department, temperatures could dip to 12 degrees Celsius in the upcoming days.
