The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has announced the exam date for JEE Advanced 2025. According to the official notification, the exam will take place on Sunday, May 18, 2025.
Exam Structure and Timings
JEE Advanced 2025 will comprise two compulsory papers:
Paper 1: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Paper 2: 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM
Each paper will have a duration of three hours.Initially, the Joint Admission Board (JAB) had decided to increase the number of attempts for JEE Advanced from two to three. However, this decision was later reversed. JAB announced that the eligibility criteria regarding the number of attempts would revert to the previous standard of two attempts, consistent with the rules followed since 2013.
In an official notice, JAB stated, “The Joint Admission Board (JAB) has decided to restore the earlier eligibility criterion used in previous years pertaining to the number of attempts in JEE (Advanced), superseding the criterion mentioned in the Press Release dated November 5, 2024. This decision, made after considering various competing requirements during the JAB meeting on November 15, 2024, reinstates the earlier eligibility criteria followed since 2013. All other eligibility criteria remain unchanged.”
For JEE Advanced 2025, candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2000. However, SC, ST, and PwD candidates are eligible for a five-year relaxation and must be born on or after October 1, 1995. All other eligibility requirements remain the same as in previous years.
