Mira Bhayandar: In a bid to give a slip to the police team, an accused devised a rather foolish and risky plan of jumping from balcony to balcony of a multi storey tower in Kashimira, but ended up dangling from the tenth floor.
According to police, the incident was reported from the DB Ozone complex in Kashimira on Monday afternoon. A joint team comprising personnel from the Kashimira police station along with their Hyderabad counterparts had gone to arrest the accused who has been identified as-Mohammed Abdul Mateen (39) on Monday afternoon. However, Mateen locked the entrance door from inside and tried to escape from the balcony.
The police barged into the flat by breaking open the door and found Mateen precariously hanging from the adjoining balcony. The team summoned the fire brigade personnel who reached the spot and casted a fall protection net in the compound of the tower, as an immediate preventive measure in case the man fell after failing to hang on.
Meanwhile the police personnel managed to safely pull Mateen up to the balcony. “Mateen had been absconding for the past seven months after he was booked in a Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic (NDPS) in Hyderabad. The Hyderabad police had sought our help after receiving a tip-off about his presence in Kashimira. He was staying in a rented accommodation for the past seven months.” confirmed senior police inspector- Lalu Ture.
Mateen was arrested and his custody handed over to the Hyderabad police after completing the due process of law. An offence under the relevant sections of the NDPS Act had been registered against Mateen at the Rein Bazar police station in the south zone of Hyderabad.
