Attention Punekars! Note THESE Changes in Traffic Before Taking University Road

Pune Traffic Division’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Amol Zende, on Tuesday informed that temporary changes have been implemented to the traffic on Ganeshkhind Road to ensure smooth flow during the ongoing construction of the Tata Metro project.

The work, which spans from Anand Rishiji Maharaj Chowk near Savitribai Phule Pune University to Shivajinagar Court, includes the construction of a porter beam at Pune University Chowk and girder launching for the metro station near the Reserve Bank office. To manage traffic efficiently during these construction activities, the traffic police have announced several changes.

According to the new traffic plan, only two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheelers coming from Bremen Chowk on Aundh Road to Pune University Chowk will be allowed entry. The route from Bremen Chowk to Aundh Road will proceed straight from the main entrance of Pune University and turn right at VAMNICOM’s main entrance, heading towards Ganeshkhind Road. However, goods vehicles, PMPML buses, and luxury buses will not be allowed on this route.

Alternative Routes:

To reach Shivajinagar or Deccan from Bremen Chowk, motorists must turn left onto Jaikar Path, proceed straight to Ambedkar Chowk, continue to Sai Chowk, turn right to Symphony Chowk (Range Hills), and from there, turn right at Unit 4 Crime Branch. This will lead them to the Agricultural College Road, passing NT Wadi Chowk, Shimla Chowk, and finally to the desired destination.

For vehicles heading to RTO, Pune Station or Nagar Road, motorists should turn left from Bremen Chowk, take another left at Ambedkar Chowk, and proceed via Bopodi Chowk. Alternatively, from Ambedkar Chowk, they can continue straight to Sai Chowk, Khadki Police Station, and use the railway underpass or head from Unit 4 straight to Poultry Underpass.

PMPML buses heading to Senapati Bapat Road from Hinjewadi and Sangvi areas will be diverted via Rishi Malhotra Chowk, right from Parihar Chowk, and left onto Baner Road, passing Vidyapeeth Chowk.

From Vidyapeeth Chowk to Range Hills Chowk, all vehicles will be restricted from using Ganeshkhind Road to reach Shivajinagar.

Alternate Route for Range Hills Traffic:

Motorists can turn left from Range Hills Corner to Symphony Circle on Range Hills Road, and then proceed to Unit 4 Crime Branch, turn right towards Agriculture College, and proceed via NT Wadi Chowk to Shimla Office Chowk, leading to their destination.

For RTO, Pune Station, or Nagar Road, drivers can access their destination via Railway Subway or Poultry Farm Chowk.

Road Closure and Alternative Routes for Construction:

Due to pillar construction near COEP Hostel, access from Shimla Office Chowk to COEP Hostel from SG Barve Chowk will be closed.

Drivers should use the alternative route from Shimla Office Chowk, turning right in front of Sancheti Hospital towards SG Barve Chowk or proceed via the subway near Sancheti Hospital and Kamgar Putla Chowk.

Additionally, from Shimla Office Chowk to Kamgar Putla Chowk, all vehicle entry will be prohibited daily from 10 pm to 7 am.

For Pune-Mumbai Highway:

Vehicles from Poultry Farm Chowk will not be allowed to proceed towards Range Hills via the railway underpass. The alternative route is to proceed from Poultry Farm Chowk, turn left at Church Chowk, and use the railway underpass near Khadki Police Station, leading to Sai Chowk.

These changes are expected to help manage the construction work and ensure that traffic remains smooth during this phase of the metro development.
