Mumbai: The special NIA court hearing the 2008 Malegaon blast case has ordered to keep the execution of the warrant issued for Pragya Singh Thakur at abeyance, after the NIA submitted that Thakur is hospitalised in Meerut.
The NIA on Monday submitted a report on the warrant before the special court on its inability to execute it. The agency claimed that when the officer went to serve the warrant at Thakur’s residential address, she was not found there. However, on inquiry they were told that Thakur has been hospitalised in HIIMS hospital, Meerut.
Special Court Takes The Report On Record
The special court took the report on record and ordered that the warrant be kept in abeyance till further orders. The court had last month issued two warrants against Thakur as she failed to turn up for hearing of the case. Her lawyers had sought indefinite exemption from her appearance on the ground that she has been taking treatment in the hospital.
The court had refused to accept that as a ground in absence of medical records and on November 13 issued a fresh warrant against her. The NIA was asked to execute the same and submit the report. Thus, as the warrant could not be executed, the agency had submitted a report in the court on Monday
