Actor and comedian Sunil Pal was abducted earlier this week and released after paying a ransom of Rs 7.5 lakh. However, no FIR has been registered so far.
Pal told Santacruz police that he was in Haridwar in connection with a shoot and was kidnapped near the Delhi border.
“On December 2, I was in Haridwar for a shoot. Around 1.30pm, a few people abducted me, took me in a vehicle, and later demanded Rs7.5 lakh. They released me in Delhi after the payment. I have given my statement to the police, and they are investigating the matter,” Pal said.
On Tuesday, Pal’s wife, Sarita, filed a missing person report in Mumbai. Hours later, on Wednesday, she confirmed that the comedian had returned home safely. A video of Pal has now surfaced in which he claims he was “kidnapped” in Delhi.
The video, shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), shows Pal addressing his fans. He said, “I was kidnapped on December 2, but now I have returned home safely. I have given my statement to the police. I will share more details once the police procedures are complete.”

He also thanked his fans for their love and urged them to keep praying for him. Further elaborating on his kidnapping, he added, “The kidnapping happened near Delhi… at the Delhi border… coming from Meerut. I will share more details soon.”
