Team India all-rounder recalled the time when his father made the sacrifice of leaving his job to focus on his cricket career. In a video shared by BCCI on it’s social media handle, Reddy said.
“To be honest, I was not that serious when I was young. My father left his job for me. There has been lots of sacrifice in my story. One day I saw him crying due to financial problems he had, and it felt like I had to do the hard work”.
He added,”Like, your father did this sacrifice and you are just enjoying cricket by playing it for fun. So that time, I took it seriously and suddenly in one year, I got the growth, did the hard work and it paid off.”
Reddy reminisced about an old photo with Kohli and Anushka Sharma in the background. He said “It was a safety photo. At that time, he was so famous, I felt like I had to get a picture. It reminds me of my childhood dreams,”.

Nitish Kumar Reddy on dream to play with Kohli
Reddy had a childhood dream of playing alongside for the Indian team. He achieved his dream in Perth when he received his debut Test cap from Kohli before the match, which India won by a massive 295 runs to lead the series 1-0.
The all-rounder talked about how he used to calculate his age in his childhood to make sure that he had enough time to play alongside Kohli before the latter retires from all forms of cricket
He said, “From childhood, I am a huge fan of Virat Kohli and I used to watch every match of his. He scores hundreds and I like his celebrations. At that time, I used to calculate my age so that he doesn’t retire when I make my debut for India.”
