Bhopal/Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): The Gwalior Divisional Cricket Association will host the Vijay Merchant Trophy tournament from December 6. Six teams from different states in the country will participate.
Matches will be played across four venues: Captain Roop Singh Stadium, Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium in Shankarpur, Scindia School Ground, and MPCA Ground in Morena. The tournament will have five rounds and run until December 30. A total of 15 matches will take place during the event.
According to information, the teams competing are Assam, Odisha, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Manipur. The opening matches will be played from December 6-8. Assam will face Odisha at Shankarpur Stadium, Gujarat will play against Uttar Pradesh at Roop Singh Stadium, and Haryana will compete with Manipur at Scindia School.
Gwalior’s cricket activities have gained momentum since the construction of the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia International Cricket Stadium. The city recently hosted the Madhya Pradesh Cricket League (MPL) and a T20 match between India and Bangladesh. The Vijay Merchant Trophy is another prestigious addition to Gwalior’s cricket calendar.

The Vijay Merchant Trophy is an Under 16 cricket tournament that is organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The VMT is a tournament that is designed to provide young budding cricketers an opportunity to showcase their talent at the national level.
The tournament is named after a legendary Indian batsman, Vijay Singh Madhavji Merchant. Many Indian cricket legends, such as Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, and VVS Laxman, made their mark in this very tournament.
