Mira Bhayandar: The anti-human trafficking unit (AHTU) of the Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar (MBVV) police busted yet another high-profile prostitution racket in Kashimira. While two people have been arrested, six women (aged between 25 to 30 years) were rescued from the clutches of the racketeer.
The pimps who have been identified as- Manoj Duleshwar Yadav alias Ravi (31) and Subhash Kuleshwar Yadav (24) who are said to be fronts of an organised racket, run by the kingpin- Gabbar alias Raees and his accomplices used social messaging platforms including-WhatsApp application to communicate with potential clients by sharing photographs of women.
Acting on a tip-off about immoral trafficking of women by the Bandra-based gang, the police team established contact with Raees through a decoy customer. Raess demanded Rs.50,000 for the rendezvous. After striking a deal, the decoy informed the police team following which a trap was laid at the parking lot of a reputed sportswear outlet on the highway in Kashimira.
The duo was taken into custody after they arrived there in a Maruti Swift car along with three women. While an offence under the relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) against the duo and five others including Raees, the rescued women were later shifted to a shelter home in Mumbai after completion of formalities.
The police have launched a manhunt to apprehend Gabbar and his other four accomplices. The case has been handed over to the Kashimira police station for further investigations.
