The artist’s journey
Munja Bapurao Narwade, Principal of the College of Fine Arts, Nashik, hails from a humble background in Gangakhed, Parbhani. Born into a labourer’s family with no artistic line, his journey into the art world is both inspiring and remarkable. His works vividly portray rural life and the beauty of nature, from waterfalls and skies to aged wooden houses and vibrant village scenes.
“Untitled” Art
Narwade’s mastery lies in his use of bold, primary colours like red, yellow, blue, and green in his art. His paintings blend light, shadow, and texture, creating depth and emotion. Whether it’s the play of sunlight on ancient doors or the hazy allure of clouds and water, his works capture the charm of the every day with extraordinary detail.
“Waterfall” inspired by Nashik’s waterfall
This exhibition presents a collection of inspiring artworks and meaningful paintings that capture the essence of the vibrant city of Nashik and nature. The artist describes the display as a blend of Nashik lanes, old town roads, and various other local influences. Among the standout pieces featured at the gallery are “Untitled,” “Nashik Waterfall,” and “Relax,” among others.
“Relax” Art
Talking about his inspiration for nature art, the artist stated, “When I was studying art at the Government School of Art, Aurangabad, Maharashtra, I developed a deep fascination with nature. I was drawn to fields, farmlands, waterfalls cascading down hills, the interplay of water and wind that creates white textures, clouds floating in the sky, trees and plants, the play of sunlight, shadows, soil, old wooden houses, their beautiful doors and windows, the rocky village terrain, and the greenery spread across it. The diversity of nature captivated me, and I tried to bring these pleasant experiences to life on canvas.”
