Jawan Praveen Ramesh Babar, a resident of Udtare in Wai Tehsil, Satara district, was tragically died while serving in Guwahati, Assam. His mortal remains, brought to his village on Saturday afternoon, were cremated with full state honours. Serving in the Army’s Commando Force, Babar had followed in his father’s footsteps, who had also served in the military. Known for his friendly nature, Babar died on Wednesday morning while on duty in Guwahati.

His body was brought to Udtare in a flower-decorated vehicle, where slogans like ‘Shaheed Jawan Praveen Babar Amar Rahe, Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ echoed through the village. A large crowd, including Rajya Sabha MP Nitin Patil, Kisanveer Karkhana Vice President Pramod Shinde, Provincial Officer Rajendra Kachre, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Balasaheb Bhalchim, Tehsildar Sonali Metkari, Assistant Police Inspector Ramesh Garje of Bhuinj Police Station, and many locals, paid their respects.
The Satara Police Force honoured him with a gun salute. Babar is survived by his elderly mother, wife, two daughters, one son, and one brother.
Tragically, his wedding anniversary was on Tuesday, and news of his death on Wednesday sent shockwaves through the entire village of Udtare, leaving the entire Wai taluka in deep mourning.
