NEET-PG 2024: Madhya Pradesh High Court Quashes State Counseling Process, Directs NBEMS To Expedite Fresh Merit List

Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The Madhya Pradesh High Court has  invalidated the NEET-PG 2024 state merit list and quashed the counseling process during a hearing on Monday.

A division bench led by Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva has directed the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) to prepare a fresh state merit list as soon as possible.

During the hearing, Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva presented the verdict and stated, “The state merit of NEET PG 2024 examination for the state of Madhya Pradesh can not be sustained and is accordingly quashed. National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) is directed to prepare the state merit list afresh by awarding the incentivized marks to the in-service candidates, not on their raw scores but their normalized scores. The exercise be carried out as expeditiously as possible. The writ petition is allowed in the above terms. There shall be no orders as to cost.”

Normalisation Case In MP HIGH Court !!

The Madhya Pradesh High Court has invalidated the NEET-PG 2024 State Merit List for Madhya Pradesh, citing errors in how it was compiled. The court upheld the percentile method for the All India Merit List but found the state list’s… pic.twitter.com/yzRaRstwWu

What was the matter?

The issue arose after it was found that the normalization process was applied twice while preparing the merit list for MD-MS admissions. Despite scoring high in the NEET merit list, many in-service candidates were ranked lower in the state merit list. This discrepancy was deemed a violation of the rules governing the selection process.

The petition was filed by Rewa resident Dr. Abhishek Shukla and other doctors, alleging unfair practices in the preparation of the merit list. Advocate Aditya Sanghi represented the petitioners in court.

Hence, the High Court has instructed NBEMS to create a ‘fresh’ state merit list to ensure fairness and compliance with the rules. This decision aims to rectify the discrepancies and uphold the integrity of the selection process.

Further updates are awaited as NBEMS takes action to implement the court’s directions.
