Special Arrangements Made By Western Railway For Mahaparinirvan Diwas

On the occasion of Mahaparinirvan Diwas i.e. on 6 th December, large number of followers of Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar visited Chaitya Bhoomi at Dadar in Mumbai to pay his homage. Western Railway has made elaborate arrangements to manage the extra rush of passengers as well as to avoid any untoward incident.

According to a press release issued by Vineet Abhishek – Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the details of the arrangements made by WR are as under:

1. Commuter Convenience:

Helpdesks are set up at Dadar station to guide the public.

Helpdesks are set up at strategic location on the platform and FOB for convenience of passengers.

Volunteers from civil defence, NCC and Scouts and Guides are assisting passengers.

2. Special Trains:

WR Mumbai Division has planned to run additional suburban trains, in case of exigencies.

3. Crowd Management:

Adequate RPF/GRP staff (approx. 380 personnel) have been deployed to monitor crowd movement at Dadar station.

A total of 14 ticket checking staff have been deployed round the clock at Dadar, to ensure proper guidance to the passengers at station and also to control the crowd to avoid any untoward incidents.

Regular announcements using megaphones done to guide the public.

Adequate number of signages, information standees, digital display screens providing various useful information is provided for the guidance of the passengers.

Proper queuing arrangement at the station is made for the orderly movement of the passengers.

Barricading has been done on Sky Walk Bridge & BMC bridge for smooth movement of crowd at Dadar.

Appropriate banners have been displayed at prominent locations of Dadar station regarding “Way to Chaitya Bhoomi”, “Way to Rajgruh” etc for guidance of passengers.

Banners/ standees with Train numbers and timings of the special trains have been displayed at various locations at Dadar station.

4. Passenger guidance and security:

Special ticket checking squad/staff along with RPF/GRP personnel are deployed at the train originating stations in front of the reserved coaches to ensure entry of only bona-fide passengers.

5. Ticketing & Facilities :

Help desks are being manned round the clock by Ticket Checking Staff, RPF & GRP have been opened at Dadar station.

Additional UTS counters have been opened at Dadar station.

6. Train Operations :

Control office at Mumbai Central is being closely monitored by officers for smooth operation of trains.

7. Passenger Amenities :

Arrangement for drinking water, additional lighting, fans, glow sign boards and adequate catering facility has been made available at suburban stations .

Intensive CCTV surveillance is being done round the clock.

8. Medical Assistance to Public at stations :

Medical team comprising of doctors and paramedics are available at Dadar station. A medical help desk and adequate number of ambulances are available at Dadar station to deal with emergency situation.

Emergency Medical arrangement, Provision of wheel chairs, stretchers and adequate catering facilities has been made.

9. Over all supervision and Macro Management

Intelligence Officers will be on the field monitoring the crowd to ascertain their requirements like additional trains in case of increased crowd and to deal with other emergencies.

Western Railway authorities are working in close co-ordination with State Government and Municipal Authorities to identify any emergencies and deal with them.

Railways appeals to all to please travel with valid tickets and avoid causing any inconvenience to fellow passengers and help Railways in providing a safe, secure and pleasant travel.

Close coordination with the Central Railway officials, BMC/Corporations, State police and Coordination committee members is done.

Passengers are requested to cooperate with railway administration by keeping the trains and stations clean and traveling with proper tickets to avoid any inconvenience during their travel.
