Indore Sarafa Association Elections On December 14; Campaigning Heats Up

Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Sarafa Association elections will be held on December 14. Candidates for various posts have intensified canvassing. Monday was the last day for withdrawal of nominations. According to association members, voting will be held on Saturday from 11 am to 5 pm at Geetanjali Plaza in Chhota Sarafa. Counting of votes will start from 5.30 pm on the same day, and results will be declared by night.

Elections are being held for 11 executive members. They will choose the president, vice-president, minister, co-minister and publicity minister from among the 11 winning candidates. There are 11 candidates of Sarafa Vikas Panel and 16 members are contesting independently. A total of 880 traders are eligible to vote. This time, the voting process has been changed. It will be mandatory for every voter to cast 11 votes, or else it will be cancelled. Indore Silver-Gold Jewellery Traders Association elections are held every three years.

Sarafa Association formed in 1927

Indore Silver-Gold Jewellery Traders Association was established in 1927. First president of the association was Seth Balchand, the second was Seth Fatehchand and third was Seth Kaluram. At that time, there were only 57 shops in Chota Sarafa market and about 40 traders. Only sweets were sold in Bada Sarafa.
