To connect the Pravasi (non-resident) Rajasthanis with their motherland, the Rajasthan CM Bhajan Lal Sharma has announced annual Pravasi Rajasthani award and creation of a new government department for Pravasi Rajasthani (Non-Resident Rajasthani (NRR)) community.
The Chief Minister also announced to mark December 10th as Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas every year to celebrate the legacy of the Pravasi Rajasthanis and their contribution to the growth and development of the state. This was announced at the Pravasi Rajasthani conclave (Non-Resident Rajasthani (NRR) conclave) held on the second day of the ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 at JECC, Sitapura in Jaipur on Tuesday. Addressing the NRRs in the conclave, CM Sharma said, “the department will cater to the interests and well-being of the Pravasi Rajasthani community and will take their suggestions, expertise, and resources to help Rajasthan taking new strides across sectors such as tourism, health, and education.”
Sharma further announced that December 10th will be officially marked as “Pravasi Rajasthani Diwas” every year to invite and honor the NRRs for their efforts towards the development of Rajasthan. The Chief Minister further said that a single point of contact (PoC) will also be appointed across all districts of Rajasthan to resolve the grievances/complaints of the extended family members of the Pravasi Rajasthani community.In the presence of eminent group of Pravasi Rajasthanis that included Ajay Piramal, Chairman, Piramal Enterprises Ltd; Nirmal Kumar Sethia, Founder & Chairman, Sethia Group of Companies, UK; Ashok Odhrani, Chairman, Rajasthan Business & Professional Group (RBPG), Dubai and others, the Governor of Rajasthan Haribhau Bagade said, ‘In all cities of the country, the Marwari community from Rajasthan has earned name and fame in their respective professions and made their native state proud.”
Notably, a large number of Rajasthanis are living in different parts of the country, especially in North – East and South India and abroad as well. The conclave was also graced by union minister Bhupender Yadav, the Governor of Sikkim Om Mathur and ministers of Rajasthan.
