Navi Mumbai: CIDCO Seizes 14 Illegal Dumpers In Ulwe, Drivers Detained; Police Probe Debris Mafia

A team from CIDCO, with the assistance of traffic police, conducted an operation in Ulwe to seize 14 dumpers that had arrived illegally to dump debris in an open space owned by CIDCO.

“The dumpers were all confiscated, and the drivers were taken into custody. During their interrogation, it was revealed that the dumper drivers had come from Mumbai to dump debris in the open space in Ulwe. The police have now started searching for the debris mafia who were instructing them to dump the material,” an officer from Cidco Vigilance department said.

On Sunday evening, the dumpers, carrying debris including soil, and stones, were heading toward CIDCO’s open land in Ulwe via the Atal Setu road. When the dumpers were stopped by the Nhava Sheva Traffic Branch officers, it was found that the drivers were planning to dispose of debris in the Ulwe area. After informing CIDCO officials, Neeraj Mahesh, the Assistant Executive Engineer and his team rushed to Ulwe and inspected all the dumpers. They found that the vehicles were carrying harmful debris harmful to the environment including broken tiles, soil, and stones.

As a result, CIDCO’s team, with the help of the police, seized all 14 dumpers and their 14 drivers. A case has been registered against all the drivers at the Ulwe police station under sections 271 and 62.
