Uttar Pradesh: CBI Arrests Bank Of Baroda Branch Manager In Bulandshahr For Accepting ₹1 Lakh Bribe

CBI has arrested the accused Branch Manager, Bank of Baroda, Shikarpur Branch, Bulandshahr, (U.P) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh from the Complainant. The accused Branch Manager demanded the bribe through a signed bank cheque and was caught encashing the same. 

About The Case 

A case was registered by CBI on 11.12.2024 on the basis of a written complaint against said Branch Manager, Bank of Baroda, Shikarpur Branch, Bulandshahr. It was alleged that the wife of the Complainant had applied for a loan of Rs 80 lakhs from Bank of Baroda, Shikarpur Branch, Bulandshahr.

The public servant Branch Manager allegedly demanded illegal gratification of Rs 1,00,000/-, from the complainant, in order to sanction the loan of Rs. 80  lakhs. It was also alleged that the accused public servant had insisted that the bribe of Rs 1 lakh should be delivered to him through a duly signed bank cheque so that he could withdraw the bribe amount himself.  

CBI laid a trap and the duly signed blank cheque was handed over to the accused by the complainant during trap proceedings. As soon as accused Branch Manager withdrew the bribe amount of Rs. 1 lakh by using the said cheque of the complainant, the CBI team apprehended him and recovered the bribe amount of Rs. 1 lakh from his possession. 

Searches were conducted at the residential premises of the accused at Bulandshahr and Delhi. A Pistol was recovered from his residential premises at Bulandshahr during the search operation and the same was handed over to the local police i.e. Thana Kotwali, Shikarpur, Bulandshahr. The arrested accused person is being produced before the Hon’ble Court of Special Judge, CBI, Court No. 2, Ghaziabad.

 Investigation is continuing.
