MP High Court Orders Immediate Removal Of Nursing Council Chairperson & Registrar Amid Fraud Allegations

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The High Court, principal bench of Jabalpur, on Friday ordered the removal of Nursing Council chairman Dr Jiten Shukla and registrar Anita Chand immediately. The chief secretary was also directed to take cognisance of the matter and ensure compliance of the order.

The hearing of all other nursing cases along with the PIL by Law Students Association president Vishal Baghel in the nursing fraud case was held before the special bench of Justice Sanjay Dwivedi and Justice Achal Kumar Paliwal.

An application was presented before the HC on behalf of petitioner advocate Vishal Baghel, stating that the then inspector, Anita Chand, who helped in granting recognition to RKS College of Bhopal in 2021-22 by showing a suitable report despite being ineligible, has been rewarded and made the registrar of the Nursing Council instead of taking action for the irregularities committed by her and even after complaining, no action has been taken in two months.

In this situation, when the matter is pending in the HC and if those who committed irregularities in their tenure are considered important, then fair action will not be possible, along with this, evidence related to the nursing scam can also be affected. In its reply, the government said an inquiry committee has been formed to investigate the complaint made by the petitioner in the case of the registrar, but the HC refused to give any time to the government.

The HC commented that when the matter is under the monitoring of the court and CBI is investigating, under these circumstances how can the officers involved in irregularity be held responsible and what kind of correct action can be expected from them, and there is also a strong possibility that these officers who are accused of being involved in the irregularity can once again sit on important posts and influence the evidence available against them. The court ordered the principal secretary, Public Health and Medical Education department, to immediately remove the two officers and inform the court.
