Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): District and sessions court on Friday awarded 20 years of jail to a man and victim’s mother under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Additional Sessions Judge Kumidini Patel passed the order.
“Despite the big age difference of almost 15 years, victim’s mother supported the sexual advancement toward her minor daughter just for marriage. During the court trial, the accused married her. But court convicted him and victim’s mother under POCSO Act,” special public prosecutor Divya Shukla said.
According to special public prosecution officer Divya Shukla, minor victim told Aishbag police on May 9, 2022, that Kamal Singh was her father’s friend and often visited her residence. On November 26, 2017, victim’s father had gone out for work and her brother was not at home. Accused Kamal sexually assaulted her in presence of her mother. Accused told victim that he would marry her.
Victims protested before her mother but she told her that Kamal would marry her. Kamal used to visit frequently and even stayed at victim’s residence. Finally, victim went to her cousin sister on March 9, 2022, and narrated her ordeal who approached police. Aishbag police registered case against Kamal and victim’s mother under POCSO Act.
