MP: Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Sumer Singh Solanki Advocates For Agriculture Curriculum In Schools

Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): Rajya Sabha MP Dr Sumer Singh Solanki demanded inclusion of agriculture subject in the curriculum of Eklavya Adarsh Residential Schools, Kendriya Vidyalayas and Navodaya Vidyalayas across the country. This proposal was presented during a meeting with Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs, Durga Das Uikey.

He also advocated for installation of a statue of Ekalavya across all Eklavya Adarsh Residential Schools. During discussion, Solanki emphasised the need for agricultural education, citing his 15 years of experience as a teacher and his background from a poor farming family. He expressed his commitment to traditional farming and highlighted the lack of an agricultural curriculum in the primary education system of India, which he believes is crucial for a nation heavily reliant on agriculture.

Dr Solanki noted that many children of farmers begin their lives in agriculture. He stated that providing education in modern agricultural techniques at an early age would enhance their efficiency and productivity. He acknowledged the transformative leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has reportedly doubled farmers’ income. Solanki encouraged the government to recognise the immense opportunities within the agriculture sector and integrate agricultural studies into prominent educational institutions.

In addition to curriculum proposal, Solanki proposed the installation of Eklavya’s statue in schools to inspire students. Ekalavya, an Indian mythological character, symbolises dedication and perseverance.
