Thane Accident: Biker Killed, Pillion Injured After Being Hit By Unidentified Container In Bhiwandi

A 39-year-old biker was killed, and his pillion rider suffered injuries after being hit by an unidentified container truck in Bhiwandi on Thursday morning. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Samir Hashmi, 39, and the injured individual is Sahabuddin Musha Khan, 45, both residents of Mumbra, Thane. Hashmi lived with his wife and children in Mumbra.

The incident took place at Pimpalsas Phata, Pimplas village, within the jurisdiction of Kongaon police station in Bhiwandi at 6:15 AM, when they were on a motorcycle heading towards Mumbra from Bhiwandi.

A complaint was filed by Sahabuddin, the brother-in-law of the deceased. According to the police, Hashmi was riding the motorcycle with Khan as the pillion rider. They had gone to Bhiwandi to visit a relative, and the accident occurred as they were returning. When they reached Pimpalsas, an unidentified container truck struck them from behind recklessly and then fled the scene, leaving the victims injured.

Locals rushed to the spot and alerted the police. Both were taken to a nearby hospital, where Hashmi was declared dead upon arrival, while Khan is receiving treatment. Hashmi suffered serious injuries to his head and hand.

Kongaon police have registered an FIR against the unidentified container truck under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Motor Vehicle Act.

Atul Adurkar, Police Inspector at Kongaon Police Station, said, “We are reviewing CCTV footage from the nearby locality. We will soon apprehend the driver of the unidentified container truck.”
