Maharashtra Govt Approves New Fellowship Programmes In Management At Select Private Institutions For 2024-25

Mumbai: The Government of Maharashtra has formally granted approval for the introduction of new fellowship programmes in management at select non-aided management institutions in the state.

This significant step, set to commence in the academic year 2024-25, aligns with the directives issued by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, and aims to strengthen the state’s higher education landscape.

The fellowship programmes will be implemented at various private self-financing institutions, including prominent names such as Dr D.Y. Patil B School and Indira School of Business Studies, both located in Pune. These institutions have been authorised to begin with ten and twenty seats respectively, as part of the newly approved intake.

According to the official notification issued by the Higher and Technical Education Department, these fellowship programmes will function under a permanent non-aided framework.

However, participating institutions are required to adhere to a comprehensive set of conditions to ensure the programmes meet the standards of quality and fairness established by AICTE. These conditions include stringent compliance with infrastructural requirements, including state-of-the-art libraries, laboratories, and other essential facilities.

Admissions to these fellowship programmes will be governed by merit-based criteria, strictly following AICTE’s prescribed regulations. Institutions have also been directed to maintain complete transparency by publishing all relevant information, such as admission processes, fee structures, and course details, on their official websites.

The government has taken a firm stand against any attempts to levy fees exceeding the approved limits. Institutions found in violation will face strict punitive measures under the Maharashtra Educational Institutions Act, 1987.

The state government has clarified that the fees for these fellowship programmes will align with the structure applicable for Postgraduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) courses at these institutions. Furthermore, these programmes will not be eligible for any government scholarships, fee concessions, or quota-based admissions, including those under the EWS and J&K categories.

The approval of these fellowship programmes is seen as a strategic move to elevate the state’s higher education ecosystem by encouraging research, innovation, and academic excellence in management studies.
