Gujarat is the first state to prepare a roadmap to become the first 3.5 trillion dollar economy state, said Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel at the World Hindu Economic Forum.
Patel addressed the delegates at the final day of World Hindu Economic Forum’s annual global conference. Patel spoke about the role of Gujarat as India’s industrial and economic hub and said that it is the first state to prepare a Vikasit Gujarat roadmap on the lines of Vikasit Bharat. Through the roadmap, Gujarat plans to become the first sub-national economy worth 3.5 trillion dollars by 2047.
Patel said that the state accounts for over 30% of exports and is poised to become a semiconductor and renewable energy hub, with three semiconductor firms under development and green hydrogen policies gaining momentum. “When Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the chief minister of Gujarat in 2001, our manufacturing output was worth Rs45,000 crore, and with his efforts it has reached Rs6.7 lakh crores. Today, 100 of the Fortune 500 companies are functioning in Gujarat,” said Patel.

The Gujarat CM underscored Gujarat’s ability to attract investments, with Tata Motor’s move to the state following challenges in West Bengal serving as a pivotal example. The state’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and its emphasis on safety, law and order, and ease of doing business were presented as models for other states. Gujarat’s vibrant industrial environment, combined with its cultural harmony and innovative policies, make it a vision for India’s business future.
WHEF Pays Tribute To Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel
The final day of the World Hindu Economic Forum 2024 was a blend of historical reflection, economic insights, and discussions on future innovation as it coincided with the death anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Gujarat CM said that Sardar Patel contributed for a transparent economy and his economic policies are largely neglected. He said that Patel implemented global tendering in Ahmedabad Municipality hundred years ago and paved way for competitors from across the country to participate.
Swami Vigyananand, founder and global chairman of World Hindu Foundation, said that Sardar Patel tried to save India’s economy until his last breath, but Jawaharlal Nehru ruined it after Patel’s death. “Liyaqat Ali introduced some new taxes as the finance minister in the interim government. Sardar was against those taxes and fought them until he was alive. After his demise, Jawaharlal Nehru implemented those taxes which made the country suffer for almost 50 years,” he said.
