Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A 33-year-old woman was mowed down by a speeding truck in the Rau area while she was on her way to appear for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET) examination on Saturday morning. The incident occurred on Rau Gol Square at 8:20 am when she was going to her examination centre on Nemawar Road, while her nephew who was riding the bike escaped with injuries.
The police have seized the truck and detained the driver. According to the police, the deceased was identified as Alka, wife of Devendra, a resident of Rupakhedi, Ujjain. Her family members said that Alka was staying at her brother’s house in Rani Bagh to attend her teaching examination. She left for the exam with her nephew early in the morning.
Midway, a speeding truck hit their bike, causing both to fall on the road. Alka’s husband is a soldier posted in Jammu & Kashmir and has been informed about the tragic incident. Family members said that Alka was passionate about teaching and taught children in a private school. She wanted to secure a government job after passing the CTET exam. On the morning of the exam, she realised she had forgotten her watch at home and therefore took her brother’s watch for the examination. Later, she succumbed to her injuries in front of her nephew.
Had come at her brother’s home a day earlier
Alka had reached her brother’s home on Friday to attend the exam. The accident occurred while she was on her way to the exam center on Saturday morning. Alka is survived by her two children.
