Harris Shield Final: Fifties From Hamza Khan, Shahid Khan Power Anjuman-I-Islam On Day One

The final of 128th Harris Shield opening ceremony and toss took place at the iconic Brabourne Stadium, CCI in Mumbai where celebrity Bollywood actor Boman Irani graced the occasion as Chief Guest, along with MCA office bearers, Apex Council Members, and selectors.

Several former Mumbai stalwarts who have played the game in maidans for the last 15-20 years and contributed immensely to cricket as players and coaches were felicitated by Boman Irani and MSSA Cricket Secretary Nadim Memon. SG-MSSA T-shirts and caps were given to every young cricketer. This is an 80-80, 40-40 format to be played across three days. For the very first time, SG balls are being used.

Anjuman Islam won the toss and elected to bat first. They posted 267 in 79.1 overs at the end of day 1 at stumps. Opener Hamza Khan showed his prowess with the bat making 64 with 10 fours while all-rounder Abdurrahman Khan contributed 34 in 70 balls with three boundaries. Shahid Khan also played well for his half-ton, 50 in 60 deliveries with four boundaries.

The Anjuman batters had a clear plan to go all out and get a big score in the first innings itself. Left arm spinner Vivaan Jobanputra from the Modern English side snapped a four-wicket haul, (4-71) in 25.1 overs. His consistency with the ball has been tremendous all through the tournament, and is very well a future star prospect in Mumbai cricket.
