The likes of Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli have been trolled for celebrating in an animated manner in the dressing room after India avoided the follow-on on day four of the third Test against Australia in Brisbane. In a video surfaced on social media, Gambhir and Kohli were seen cheering for India after Akash Deep hit a boundary to help their side avoid the follow-on.
With Pat Cummins dismissing Ravindra Jadeja for 77 and India reduced to 213/9, the hosts would have fancied enforcing the follow-on. However, Jasprit Bumrah and Deep toughened out to stitch an unbroken 39-run partnership. Akash Deep hit a boundary off Cummins in the last over before close and followed it up by clobbering a six to help their side reach 252/9. While India still trail by 193 runs, they have ensured that Australia will bat again in this Test, thereby derailing their hopes of winning.

Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul lay the foundation as India cross 200 in first innings for the first time in the series
Meanwhile, the foundation of India’s efforts of avoiding a follow-on were laid by Jadeja and KL Rahul (84) as they toughened out against a relentless Australian attack. It needed a blinder from Steve Smith at slip to break the partnership between Jadeja and Rahul as Lyon struck to get the better of the latter.
The Test series is currently locked at 1-1 and is likely to stay the same heading into the fourth game in Melbourne.
