New Delhi, December 17: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday addressed the Rajya Sabha on Constitution as the day marks the final day of discussions on the Constitution in the Rajya Sabha. The debate was initiated by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on behalf of the government.
While speaking in the Rajya Sabha during a discussion on the Constitution, Amit Shah said that this debate shows how much progress India has made because of its Constitution. He pointed out that when people ignore the true spirit of the Constitution and twist its principles for personal benefits, it leads to unfortunate events.

India Proved Others Wrong
Shah also recalled that after India gained independence, many experts around the world believed that the country would fall apart. They doubted that India could stay united or become economically self-reliant. However, he emphasised that India has proved them wrong. He credited Sardar Patel’s tireless efforts for bringing the nation together and ensuring its unity, which has helped India reach its current position.
Rahul Gandhi’s Remarks On Constitution Amendment
Amit Shah also targeted Rahul Gandhi over their remarks that the BJP will change the Constitution if it is voted to power in the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. Amit Shah said that Rahul Gandhi spread fear among the citizens of the country over Samvidhan Amendments. He also said that BJP and the Congress, both parties have made amendments in the Constitution.
EVM Hacking
Speaking over the opposition blaming the EVM for their loss in the recently held elections, Amit Shah said that the Supreme Court invited people who can hack the EVM, however, no one came forward to accept the challenge. He also asked the Congress and other political parties targeting the EVM, was the EVM right during the Jharkhand Assembly Elections 2024? and the same EVM was rigged during the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024. He said that the opposition is not ready to accept the people’s mandate if it is not in their favour.
