Pune district has again secured first place in the state in the 4th National Lok Adalat of this year organized in Pune district. Out of the total cases filed in the Lok Adalat, about 87,486 cases were disposed of, and a settlement amount of more than ₹366 crores was collected.
The Lok Adalat was inaugurated by the Principal District & Session Judge and Chairman of District Legal Services Authority Mahendra Mahajan.
On this occasion, at the Ashok Hall of the court, Mahajan said that Lok Adalat is a significant step towards ensuring speedy justice, ease, and resolution of disputes for all. “Lok Adalat has always had a unique and special place in our judicial system. This has provided a profound and legitimate platform for speedy resolution of disputes and reducing the burden on our courts,” he added.
Pre-filed cases a great hit
Cases worth total of ₹366.27 crores were settled in the Lok Adalat. This time, 1,87,063 cases were filed for settlement. Out of which 87,486 cases were successfully settled. Thus, Pune district has topped the state in settling settlement cases.
The pre-filed case has achieved great success in the Lok Adalat, and a total of ₹52.3 crores has been settled. In this, 1,45,179 cases were filed for settlement before filing (pre-litigation). Out of which, 51,328 cases have been successfully settled. Apart from this, a total of ₹314.24 crores compromise amount was received in the post-litigation. A total of 41,884 cases were taken up for mediation, out of which 36,158 cases have been successfully disposed of.
The National Lok Adalat, organised under the vision of the Legal Services Authority, is working as a symbol of justice, efficiency, and fairness for all, and its excellent performance is a ray of hope for the future of the Indian judiciary.
