Bhopal Cops Scan 140 CCTV Cameras To Crack Theft At TI’s Residence; Accused Last Seen At Railway Station

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police teams have scanned 140 CCTV cameras to identify and trace the culprit who committed daring theft at the residence of Crime Branch TI Ashok Maravi on Wednesday afternoon.

The accused, who is still to be identified, was seen heading towards Bhopal Railway station in an auto in the CCTV footage.

Police suspect that the culprit is a professional as he precisely broke the locks and walked away confidently after stealing cash and jewellery from the house of the TI.

It is worth mentioning that a man broke into the government residence of Crime Branch TI Ashok Maravi on Wednesday afternoon while the TI and his wife were not at home. The culprit broke the locks and locked the pet dog of the family into the store room before decamping with cash Rs 1 lakh and some jewellery from the house.

The CCTV footage showed that the thief entered the house at 12. 22 and walks out only after 5 minutes. The TI was at his office at Crime Branch while his wife Kiran was at her office at Police Training and Research Institute. TI Maravi learnt about the theft only after he went to drop his son home from school.

On the instructions of senior police officials multiple police teams have been roped in to identify and nab the culprit. In-charge at Habibganj police station Ajay Soni said 140 CCTV cameras were scanned to trace the route of the culprit.

He was seen fleeing in an auto towards Jehangirabad, Talaiya Road, Shahdara and then towards Bhopal Railway station. More CCTV cameras were being scanned to follow the culprit who is still to be identified, he added.
