Injury Scare For Team India! KL Rahul Gets Treatment From Physio After Blow To His Hand In Nets Ahead Of Boxing Day Test; Video

Team India opener KL Rahul was seen getting some treatment from the physio after he suffered a hand injury while batting at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) ahead of the Boxing Day Test against Australia, giving the tourists an injury scare. However, the right-handed batter is likely to be good to go for the decisive clash.

Rahul has arguably looked the most assured amongst all other Indian batters in the ongoing series against Australia. The 32-year-old is the highest run-getter for the visitors with 235 runs in six innings at 47 with two half-centuries. However, Rahul was unfortunate to miss out on a three-figure score on both the occasions.

“I believe, in KL Rahul, we have the opener that India needs” – Dinesh Karthik

Following Rahul’s gritty 84 in the first innings in Brisbane, ex-Indian keeper-batter Dinesh Karthik opined that people need to value him more and not give up if he falters moving forward. Karthik reckons the Karnataka-born batter is the opener India needs, especially in overseas Tests.

“I believe, in KL Rahul, we have the opener that India needs. I hope they continue to back him. If, within the next year, there’s a series where he has a couple of low scores, I hope people don’t have a short memory. We need to appreciate what he has done and what he is doing today. That matters a lot. People often forget that many Test cricketers are judged on what they do abroad. And Rahul has been as good as anyone who has played for the country over an extended period.”

The Boxing Day Test against Australia begins on December 26.
