Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Tuesday had slammed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after BR Ambedkar’s statue was vandalised in Gujarat.
Taking to X, TMC said, “Aap CHRONOLOGY samjhiye: HM @AmitShah insults Babasaheb Ambedkar on the floor of the Parliament. Instead of asking him to apologise, PM @narendramodi backs him up. Far from showing remorse, the Home Minister defends his actions. Now, a statue of Babasaheb Ambedkar has been vandalised in the PM and the HM’s home state, Gujarat @BJP4India’s contempt for constitutional principles, their aversion to the values Babasaheb stood for, and their disdain for the Dalit community can’t be more OBVIOUS! An APOLOGY is long overdue!”
Bengal stands united in fierce protests against @BJP4India’s disgraceful insult to Dr. B R Ambedkar.
Such a blatant attack on the values and legacy that Babasaheb upheld is unacceptable.

On Monday TMC took out protest rallies across the state condemning Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s recent remarks on B R Ambedkar.
Party leaders including ministers holding posters of BR Ambedkar took out rallies at every block level.
Notably, while inaugurating the Christmas festival a couple of days back, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also condemned the comments of the Union Home Minister against BR Ambedkar in the Parliament.
Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari said that Congress at the national level and TMC always ‘insults’ BR Ambedkar.
