Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): An incident of murder on the first day of new year (January 1, 2025) was reported in Jabalpur, where a youth was shot to death at his home’s terrace while he was celebrating his birthday.
It is said that the reason behind the murder was an old dispute. After committing the crime, the accused fled the spot and are still absconding. The Hanumantal police registered a case based on the family’s complaint and initiated an investigation. Police are also conducting raids at possible hideouts.
According to information, the victim was identified as Sonu alias Sameer Mansuri (27). He was hosting a birthday party with friends on the terrace of his house in Azad Nagar’s Mohariya locality under Hanumantal police station limits, when the attack occurred.
Four accused entered the house
Eyewitness said, four men including Firoz, Saifu, Sohib, and another accomplice from the Adhartal area, entered the house and shot Sonu. The attackers fled the scene immediately after committing the crime.
Family members then rushed Sonu to Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical Hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
According to Hanumantal police station in-charge Dheeraj Kumar Raj, Sonu was celebrating his birthday in a rented house when Saifu and Arif Khan arrived at the scene. Saifu allegedly fired two shots at Sonu, hitting him in the chest. The police have assured the public of swift arrests and justice for the victim’s family.
Preliminary findings indicate that the murder was the result of a longstanding dispute.
The victim’s family has demanded strict action against the culprits and improved safety measures in the neighborhood.
